Melissa & Dave - Adventures at Sea

Dave saves a turtle

We headed for Queens Caye (known to locals as Silk Caye).  We heard that over 100 baby turtles had been born the day before.  We all snorkeled and saw some of the most incredible coral formations we had ever seen (including the Great Barrier Reef in Australia) along with lots of tropical fish.  Alas no turtles though.  We headed back to our boat and Dave zipped back to pay our park fees.  He returned having learned that the boats were headed out to feed the turtles and sharks on a reef a short distance away.  So we piled into the skiff and followed along.  There were giant turtles, rays, and reef sharks.  Melissa being her ever efficient self had taken a shower and changed already, so she missed getting to jump in to snorkel with the turtles.  One giant turtle had gotten its fin caught in another boat's line and was struggling to get away.  The harder it tried, the tighter the rope got around it's front left flipper.  Dave dove down, afraid the turtle would panic and get more frantic.  But instead it slowed down as if he knew Dave was there to help him.  Dave successfully untangled the turtle and the turtle swam off lazily.
