Melissa & Dave - Adventures at Sea

Bad Dingy! Bad Dingy!

The past few days the small 2.5 HP dingy engine has been acting up.  Its been hard to idle - keeps dying.  And yesterday it was super hard to get started.  Then on our way out to lunch today it hydro-locked, the cylinder having filled with fuel.  Dave had to get out the tools and remove the spark plug before he could get it started.  And oddly the fuel had all drained out of it despite Dave having just filled it.  This can't be good.

We headed to lunch at Coco Loco.  Those drinks we are holding are their specialty.  Coconut, rum, and god knows what all.  But they were good.  But you don't want to have more than one if you want to stand up again.

Melissa then decided to have a nice massage on the beach while the rest of the gang checked out the local dive shop in hopes of booking a dive for tomorrow.  On the way back, Dave couldn't get the engine started.  Wanuskewin had to tow us back to Apsaras.  Dave was NOT HAPPY about this.  Determined to get it fixed, he sat in the dark with a flashlight sloshing about in the waves working on it.  He found that the carburetor was corroded and the float valve was stuck open (explaining why it hydro-locked and then dumped all its fuel) and then stuck closed (explaining why it would no longer start).  Dave got it all cleaned out and now it runs like a champ!
