Melissa & Dave - Adventures at Sea

The boys try to out do one another

We planned to leave the boats this afternoon, so we were super happy that the Costa Rica Coast Guard ship that pulled in to the bay last night was still there this morning.

We rented a car and headed for Montezuma to hike the water falls there.  A 20 minute hike over rough terrain got us to the base of the big waterfall.

Despite the murky water that resulted from last night's rains, the boys decided to jump in.  We later climbed up 500 stairs to the top of the big water fall where there was a rope swing in another big pool.  What is it with Boys that when you get a group of them together they just want to play?

Dave, Mike and Josh tried to outdo one another with their antics.

After hiking out, we walked back down the road and found a troop of howler monkeys.  We've now seen so many of these little guys we can't count.

Then it was onto a local restaurant for lunch.  Costa Rica had just won the game they were playing in the World Cup and all the bars and restaurants were filled with screaming people.  This bird was determined to get some handouts.

We continued touring around the area and the crazy drunk people celebrating the soccer team win were everywhere hopping up and down and hooting.  Several times Dave had to stop as they would just wander out in front of the car in the middle of the streets.  Fortunately we were going slow!

For dinner we headed to the local Tambor pizza joint on the beach again because when we were there last the pizza was so good.  Upon overhearing our conversations about inflation and how the US is printing money causing inflation the proprietor, Henry, came out to join us.  Very interesting guy - from Italy originally.  Moved to Costa Rica and opened a restaurant that failed when the tourism decreased to a tiny fraction of what it once was.  He then opened a small pizza joint on the beach.  Well, no wonder the pizza was so good!  It was being made by a native Italian!  We were pretty entertained by him.  He talked with us for quite awhile about his frustration with governments who mess up their country's economy - which is happening around the world in his view.
